A favorite and familiar journey

No visit to Westport would be considered complete without a few visits to the most stunning setting in the West - the primitive and remote Doolough valley.  We set out after dinner Tuesday night with a plan - to catch the late slanting rays of the sun through this magical area and reward ourselves with a beverage and a sweet at the unique Delphi Adventure Resort.  A reward because of the commitment to a bit of a late night - the sun doesn't set until 10:04 and getting the best light often occurs even later.  Faithful readers may remember that we've stayed here in previous years and have returned on any number of occasions to visit the Chef's Table and the resort's 814 Restaurant.  We've even toasted the birth of our granddaughter, the redoubtable Maggie Rollins Houck here on the occasion of her birth almost four years ago.  We were fortunate to have the day continue as it had been - an extraordinarily fine day with an abundance of sunshine.  And although the best pictures of Doolough are probably taken in the dead of winter when there's no haze, I'm relatively pleased with the results of last night's outing.
