A Beautiful Day
A lesson learned again and again.
It always makes sense to get in the car and roam. Even if it's a dull and rainy day in Westport.
We headed off on a favorite drive - Clonbur through Cornamona through Maam to Leenane and back to Westport. We are both amazed that we are into our fifth full week and we've only now done this drive. We just don't have any idea how we packed all our typical activity into our previous three week stays.
All of these drives, of course, were first shown to us by Padraic and Marion. That's how we knew to stop at Burke's Pub for lunch. We both started with their silky, creamy seafood chowder. So much seafood - mussels, salmon, hake, cod - a beautiful melange of texture and flavor. Plenty for lunch... Oh you'd think so. But who could resist their excellent ham, cheddar, and onion toasted sandwich. And for Candee their smoked salmon served on brown bread with capers. Served with salad and creamy slaw for us both and chips (fries) for me. Lord knows, I couldn't possibly follow all of this with a crumble, right? Shame on you! You thought I was going to say I did, didn't you. I'm hurt :( I stopped the gluttony, had a latte, and went on my way. Plenty of time to have that crumble later...
