A Lazy Day of Travel

After listening to the final session of the bluegrass festival yesterday, we exchanged warm farewells and email addresses with Richard and Carol Hawkins and headed up for a lovely dinner at the Duffys.  Salmon and good Irish steak for our entree, a mash of root vegetables, smoked salmon on our salad, fresh spuds, and succulent strawberries and cream for dessert.  And a great catching up on events of the last year.  All after a convincing win by Co Mayo in Gaelic football.  On to the Connaught final for the lads - Up Mayo!  An all around terrific day.

Today Candee and I headed up the road to Castlebar to pick up our carhire - a delightfully small Nissan Micra (I promise a picture).  And with a standard transmission - I just get braver and braver!  Padraic and Marion dropped us off and continued along to Dublin for some appointments, including some "retail therapy."  We'll catch up with them again tomorrow.

Candee and I headed toward north Mayo, through Foxford (a visit to the woollen mills is always a treat) and on to the west coast, circling around the Nephin Beg range of mountains, and passing by Loughs Conn and Cullin.  This is a drive we've done with the Duffys and it brought back great memories - we didn't drag a rock across the musical bridge this time Marion - wouldn't dare try it without you.

But I did take a bunch of pictures.  Not a perfect day, but the light, sky, and clouds were interesting.
