Longueville House

It looks as though we might end our visit this year as we began our first visit three years ago - in "high stool" weather. That's when the heavy rains come and the only sensible option is to head to a pub and occupy a high stool at the bar until the weather improves. It was quite stormy today, but it is supposed to improve by tomorrow. Let's hope.

I know you're dying to know what we had for dinner at the Longueville House last night. Probably not, but here goes anyway: for an appetizer, Candee had mixed garden salad leaves with herb-infused olive oil, I had the mussel pot pie with an herb and garlic crust; for the main course we both had pan fried fillet of hake with root vegetables in a saffron bouillabaisse; for dessert we both had the strawberry trifle with elderflower cream and redcurrant sorbet. Quite delicious, and everything tasted incredibly fresh - almost every ingredient comes directly from the property and is picked that day.

The pictures are all from around the Longueville property. Candee is being shown the process of making the estate's prizewinning apple brandy by Dan, the in-house distiller. We had a great time indulging in this bit of a splurge. We could even see Dromaneen Castle from our room.
