In and out of Cork City

We spent Tuesday and Wednesday nights in Cork City at the Garnish House B & B (http://www.garnishhouse.ie/). An absolutely beautiful place in the central city, just off the University College Cork campus. Check out the website above, particularly visit the "breakfast" tab. On Wednesday morning, we visited the Cobh Heritage Center and the Queenstown exhibit. This area was a major port of exit for the millions of Irish who left the island from 1847 (the great potato famine) through the 1940s (from political persecution and lack of opportunity). We are relatively certain that Maurice went through this port to come to America. The historical presentation was powerful and mom was deeply touched. In the afternoon, we drove to Kinsale Harbour, further south, but did not stay long because of the cloudy, gloomy skies. Luckily, later in the day we were back to beautiful blue skies again. On Thursday, we are off to Kilkenny to visit the castle and the midlands. The pictures are of the river in front of our B & B, mom and Candee enjoying afternoon tea in the garden of Garnish House, and our ladies at the Queenstown exhibit.
